Two Years.
Two Years.
Wow – today marks exactly two years since Accelerator for America first gathered around the idea that, despite the dysfunction in Washington, D.C., local leadership can and should create national change from the ground up.
Hosted by Mayor Pete Buttigieg in his city of South Bend, Indiana, we launched as a "do tank," not a think tank, under the direction of our Advisory Council.
Two years later, our economic development tools have been harnessed by more than 50 cities across America. And we've already helped generate billions in local transit and infrastructure funding. Just on Tuesday, we celebrated the passage of two critical infrastructure measures in Houston and Cincinnati on which we worked.
This is a turning point for our country. Income inequality is the highest it's been since it was first measured in 1967. The top-down governance model has only exacerbated poverty in America’s economically-depressed communities. Our work is focused on developing and sharing local models to create Community Wealth – pathways for families to lift themselves and their future generations out of poverty for good.
Our work is only possible because of our incredible partners and believers like you. With your support, we will continue to create change from the ground up.
Thank you.
